Failed to open the connection. Vendor Code 4060

The purpose of this article is to show the resolution for the error that comes up while running a report: "Failed to Open the Connection. Vendor Code 4060"

Overview:

The reason this occurs is usually when you have a 32 bit computer trying to connect to a 64 bit server. Usually this works but, sometimes, it doesn't.

Resolution:

This 32bit PC (Windows XP) is required to have an ODBC connection set up for Autosoft. This requires the following details:

Server Name: Servercomputername\sqlinstancename (for example SERVER\SQLEXPRESS, where SERVER is the name of the server computer, and SQLEXPRESS is the name of the SQL instance)

Username: autosoft

password: autosoft

To do this, you need to follow these steps:

1. Find the program called Data Sources(ODBC) and open the program.

2. In the SystemDSN tab and the UserDSN tab, please do the following:

a) Click add

b) Choose SQL Server. Click Next

c) Use the name Autosoft, description as Autosoft, and choose the server from above. Click Next

d) Choose SQL Authentication, and put in the username and password above. Click Next. It will test the connection

e) Continue to click next until complete. You can also test the connection on the last window.

Please note: If the connection already exists, you can edit it using "Configure"
